EHO and Mahber Selam Provide Life-Saving Food to 80 Vulnerable Families and Cash Assistance to Women with HIV in Mekele

EHO and Mahber Selam Deliver Life-Saving Support in Mekele

In a powerful show of solidarity and compassion, EHO and Mahber Selam have partnered to support some of Mekele’s most vulnerable residents. Through this joint initiative, 80 families received life-saving food aid, helping to relieve the burden of food insecurity during an incredibly difficult time.

In addition to the food support, targeted cash assistance was provided to women living with HIV—offering them the dignity and means to manage their basic needs and healthcare.

During the distribution, many beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude and also voiced a clear desire for longer-term solutions. Several women asked if EHO could help arrange vocational training courses—such as hairdressing, nail care, tailoring, and plumbing—to equip them with skills to enter the job market. Their message was clear: they don’t just want short-term help, they want to be empowered to support themselves and their families.

This heartfelt request is a powerful reminder of the resilience and determination within the community. EHO and Mahber Selam are exploring ways to respond to this call by seeking support and partnerships that can make these training opportunities a reality.
